Wynyard Aero Club is a friendly, community-based aviation club located on Tasmania’s North West Coast. Based at Wynyard Airport, our clubhouse offers panoramic views of runway and airside operations, the perfect setting for anyone passionate about aviation.
We welcome visitors, members, and pilots of all experience levels. Whether you’re planning a flight, learning to fly, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, the club provides a relaxed and social environment to connect with like-minded people.

LEARN TO FLY
Start your aviation journey right here in Wynyard with professional recreational flight training. It doesn't matter if you’re completely new to flying or looking to build on experience; training is tailored to suit your goals in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Flight training is delivered by local experienced instructor Peter Reed from Flying in Tasmania, with a strong focus on safety, confidence, and practical flying skills.
Training Options
We offer a range of recreational aviation training, including:
- Ab initio (beginner flight training)
- Biennial Flight Reviews (BFRs)
- Flight endorsements
With consistent training, you can achieve your Pilot’s Certificate in as little as 20 hours - a major first step toward becoming a pilot.
Trial Flights
Not sure if flying is for you?
Trial flights are available and are the perfect way to experience flying first-hand. Take the controls with an instructor and see what it’s all about - no experience required.

If you're stopping in for a coffee, planning your next flight, or hosting a meeting, Wynyard Aero Club offers a range of facilities to make your visit comfortable and convenient. Enjoy our welcoming clubhouse with kitchen facilities, BBQ area, bar, free Wi-Fi, airside seating, and pilot amenities, along with hangar access (subject to availability), a spacious meeting room, and event hire options. - Monthly Club Meeting – Held on the Tuesday before the third Saturday of each month.
- Monthly BBQ – Third Saturday of each month.
- Aerokhana – Held annually over the March long weekend, featuring a fun navigation exercise around Tasmania's North West Coast.
